坐落在瑞士的日内瓦洲际饭店(Hotel Intercontinental Geneva)是一家已累积40年历史国际声誉的知名饭店。如何随时代脉动，在维系饭店既有声誉又能随潮流与时俱进的两相要求下，季裕棠(Tony Chi)这位享誉国际的室内设计师再度运用令人惊叹的设计能力将日内瓦洲际饭店(Hotel Intercontinental Geneva)的公共空间变装，赋予崭新的设计风貌。

　　「这几乎是近年来我所设计最受关注的案子之一。」季裕棠说。 「这些公共空间不仅提供了饭店一个完全崭新面貌─现代，同时又是经典。并?这座精致城市及在隆河畔的自然之美作了一项极佳的国际见证。」

　　季裕棠表示，整体设计、颜色、材料以及家具的选择都是为了突显这间有着327房间、67顶级客房的日内瓦洲际饭店的两个特质：作为欢迎顾客到访的贴心感受，以及日内瓦这座国际城市的一种表征。

　　从一个崭新优雅的外观开始，由接待区外高耸的抛光莱姆石面延伸至室内再串联Lobby、各式沙龙、酒吧、餐厅以及宴会厅等公共空间。在入口处铺设了与日内瓦当地旧城镇一样的石材，大门为特别订制7.8米高的上油青铜玻璃门，绝佳的空间穿透性，呼应了季裕棠刻意为此饭店所塑造视觉延伸的空间层次感，7.8米的高度也赋予一种更为震撼的尺度感受。

　　饭店内部，迎接顾客的Lobby以及Les Salons等待区，延续户外以不抛光的莱姆石墙面以及挑空7.8米的天花所围塑，两侧各有一座壁炉，并装置由韩国艺术家Lee Jae Hyo设计，以树枝制成的球型摆饰。往内，坐落于两翼极为宽敞的主楼梯，以双动线串连楼上的酒吧与宴会厅，两边各耸立了圆弧凹槽造型的装饰莱姆石墙。

　　Les Salons的左侧与右侧分别是「Woods」餐厅以及「Les Nations」酒吧。恰如其名的Woods，撷取瑞士自然美景为设计灵感来源，共分为3区，从入口处塑立了由韩国艺术家Lee Jae Hyo设计，以木材堆砌再雕刻成的装饰桌，将空间分隔为提供正式用餐的餐厅以及较随性轻松的沙龙。另外还有户外区，提供顾客于自然环境中用餐。在视觉尽头的墙面，利用干燥叶子串成垂直动态的雕塑品，是Woods的另一项特色。 Les Nations则以昏暗的氛围铺陈，摆满书籍，让顾客能放松并享受片刻的宁静。所有家具皆以皮革里覆，制造一种奢华的基调以及温润质地。

　　往上走，围绕着Lobby挑空分别是O Bar、The Balcony Salon、The Coffee Salon，其中，The Balcony Salon拥有浏览整座饭店的最佳位置。彼此之间可利用两座活动门的开合，作为商务人士休憩或私人派对的弹性使用。往内，宴会厅的大门是由艺术家Christian Heckscher所设计的蚀刻金属门，内部天花是以特殊的竹篮式织法(Basket Weave)放大比例后，作为天花板的造形设计。一旁，接待室内的6米长矩形水晶吊灯则是另一个焦点。

　　坐落在日内瓦如此安静的住宅区内不仅可以眺望Lac Leman，如今整体设计更融入了环绕四周的街景以及这个城市既有的美，包括隆河和环绕阿尔卑斯山脉的景色。 。季裕棠不仅为日内瓦洲际饭店设计了一个汇聚众人目光的崭新公共区域，同时也一并呼应了日内瓦这座国际一流的美丽城市。编译」周巽莉

　　Hotel Intercontinental，Geneva

　　CNew York-based designer Tony Chi has taken his own hotel renovation and restoration skills to a new level with his stunning makeover of all the public areas of the Hotel Intercontinental Geneva, one of the Swiss city's foremost five star hotel properties.

　　“The objective was to provide the hotel with a completely new look-modern, but classical-and at one with the natural beauty and sophisticated international presence of the city on the Rhone,"he adds."With the full support of Intercontinental, we achieved that wonderfully.The overall design, the colors, the materials, the furniture were all chosen to give the Intercontinental Geneva a grand presence that is both welcoming to guests and symbolic of the city's important role in Swiss life and global affairs.One of the highlights of the renovation is the wonderfully proportioned Great Hall, with its tall ceilings, its huge fluted limestone columns, flanked each side by grand staircases to the ballroom area, its two-story limestone fireplace and its beautiful artworks.Another is the great Ballroom itself with its large reception and pre-function spaces, featuring etched silver doors and decorative panels by Christofle and glass crystal chandeliers (re-using the crystals from the old ballroom chandeliers), the grand scale "basket weave" ceiling overhead and floor to ceiling windows at the rear."To pave the entrance we used local stone, the same as Geneva's old town," he adds."Either side of the entry door there are buff limestone columns with three different finishes. The door itself is in oil-rubbed bronze and is 7.8 meters tall. Together these features give a feeling of scale greater its actual size. There are also outside light fixtures under the canopy."

　　Located in a quiet residential area of Geneva overlooking Lac Leman, the exterior design now blends nicely with the surrounding streetscape and complements the city's own beauty, exemplified by the River Rhone and the surrounding alpine scenery.

　　Architecturally, the fluted limestone columns, two grand stone staircases and two fireplaces help to space out the Great Hall and Les Salons and the custom-made wall coverings on the staircases helps add a softer tone to the entire space. At the top of the fireplace near the ceiling is a branch bowl from Korean artist Lee Jae Hyo.The Reception area also features dramatic ring sculptures by Lee Jae Hyo, as well as color-changing lights to create a strong focus and to attract arriving guests. The parchment leather panel on the reception desk itself helps to soften the overall "look".Mid-way through the hall to the left is the aptly-named Woods restaurant and salon, designed and named to represent something of the nature of Switzerland. There is a wood block sculpture table at the entrance and a wooden arch and wine cellar to divide the salon and restaurant.The division between restaurant and salon offers the guest a choice between more formal dining in the restaurant area and the more relaxed salon. A sculpture in the form of a wall falling leaves, also by Lee Jae Hyo, descends from the ceiling. New light fixtures, made from the hotel's old chandeliers feature throughout.

　　Les Nation or library bar, for executive guests and private parties, is dark and quiet, filled with books, enabling guests to relax and enjoy some quiet time. The furniture is all leather to project a richness of tone and warmth and the bar table has an antique look. The ceiling is classically molded and the large sliding leather doors enable the area to be closed off for private use.Up the grand staircase and onto the first floor, there is the Ballroom Reception area with its stunning etched metal panel doors designed by artist Christian Heckscher. The reception area itself is dominated and highlighted by a huge six meter long rectangular crystal chandelier with a color changing function, and a limestone floor.

　　In the Ballroom itself, three design elements stand out-matching metal panels, again designed by Christian Heckscher, glass beads in the basket weave ceiling, which reflect the light from the chandelier, and the classical pattern fabric panels. A long crystal light fixture, again with changing colors, also dominates ballroom pre-function area.

　　The O Bar is more modern than the library and is open to the public. Its entrance is a big glass sliding door with graphics of trees designed by artist Amanda Weil. Lighter timbers (lime oak), along with dark brown ceilings and wall coverings are used to make the bar attractive to the younger crowd and highlights include a fireplace, cast glass objects behind the bar and a chandelier above it.

　　The Balcony Salon has been designed to connect with the coffee salon during the day and the O Bar at evening. It has the best view of the entire public space. The Coffee Salon is for breaks away from meetings. The wall and ceiling coverings are all dark browns and the area has a fireplace and three cabinets for drinks and a cold food display.

　　“We have designed the new public areas of the 327 room, 67 suite Hotel Intercontinental Geneva to be attractive to the eye, to be eminently practical and to provide warmth that is welcoming and in keeping with the sophisticated international image of Geneva," Tony Chi says. Text by tonychi and associates
